So then, given how much the pace of Bible translation has accelerated over the last century, how long will it take for everyone to get the Bible?
150 years!
At the pace things were at the start of this century it could have taken up to 150 years! That means that EVERY person currently waiting without the Bible will have died by that time.
We believe God has challenged Wycliffe that this isn’t fast enough. In response to this, Wycliffe is calling the worldwide Church to become a Bible translation movement, end Bible poverty and start every translation that is needed by 2025.
Be part of this movement!
It seems impossible. But nothing is impossible with God.
It will take the involvement of Filipino pastors challenging their congregations to support their own people doing translation.
It will take Kenyan Christian men being willing to give up the bright careers waiting for them in Nairobi and be willing to humbly work as literacy teachers so people will be able to read the Scriptures.
It will take experienced Wycliffe translators being willing to not finish their own translation, but instead be willing to train a group of men and women how to do it. And then the work is multiplied ten-fold.
It will take churches in the UK looking at their mission strategy, mobilising their people, joining in support of Christians around the world, praying, because without prayer nothing impossible ever happens.
