Clean and Unclean
Scripture
Passage: Acts
10:1-8
Cornelius was a good man who gave to the poor and prayed
regularly to God, yet Cornelius still needed to hear the
way of salvation by a human messenger. The role of
the angel was to get Peter to come to Cornelius and tell
him the way of salvation.
Peter was living with
Simon the tanner, by the sea. A tanner treated the skins
of dead animals and so contacted the unclean, according to
Jewish laws. So many people despised him. Peter's
decision to stay with him showed a willingness to forget
Jewish tradition and prepare the way for his visit to the
Gentiles.
Questions:
1. What kind of man was Cornelius?
He was devout and God-fearing.
2. What did the angel ask Peter
to do?
To send men to bring Peter.
3. Where was Peter staying?
With Simon the tanner beside the
sea.
Memory verse: Acts
10:34-35
Then Peter replied, "I see very clearly that God doesn't show partiality. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right." (NLT)
