Cloth
Scripture Passage: Luke
5:36-39
If we have a piece of cloth, we can sew a patch on a
torn or worn out garment. This does not make a new garment
out of it. It is still the same old one. We may
try to patch up our lives by trying harder to live the right
way. But we will still be the same person we were before. Soon
we will fail to keep God's laws. What we need is a whole
new life in Jesus Christ. Paul tells us that Christ will
make each of us into a new person if we accept His salvation. We
will be born again as children of God.
Questions:
1. Can we make a new garment by patching an old one?
No, it
is still the same old one.
2. Can we make ourselves into new
persons by trying to do right?
No, only Jesus can make us into
new persons.
3. If we accept Jesus as our Saviour, what will
He do for us?
He will give us a new
birth.
Memory verse: 2
Corinthians. 5:17
What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! (NLT)
