Hen
Scripture Passage: Matthew
23: 37-39
Here Jesus speaks, not so much as a stern judge of
all the earth, but as the lover of the souls of men. It
shows us the patience of God. The people of Jerusalem
had killed the prophets and stoned the messengers of God,
yet God did not cast off the people of Jerusalem. God is
very patient with people. Jesus does not force Himself
upon us. We can either refuse or accept Him. May
our thoughts, words and actions always be pleasing to Him.
Questions:
1. What had the people of Jerusalem done to God's
prophets and messengers?
They had killed the prophets and stoned
the messengers.
2. What did Jesus want to do for the people
of Jerusalem?
Protect them as a hen protects her chicks.
3. How does Jesus
permit people to react to Him?
He allows everyone the choice
to accept or reject Him.
Memory verse: Ephesians.
4:32
Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (NLT)
