Jesus Calms the Storm
Scripture
Passage: Luke
8:22-25
In John 14:6, Jesus clearly says He is the truth. It
is this truth, which we receive by faith, which helps us understand
who Jesus is and trust Him enough to run to Him when we find
ourselves in the storms of life. These storms will come.
The Lord allows them in our lives sometimes to try our faith
and patience. As we learn to trust in Jesus, He brings
us His peace in the storm. Jesus
was at peace, even in the storm.
Jesus had already told the
disciples that they would reach the other side. Their
faith was still too small to believe Him in the face of danger.
Only God can control the weather, the disciples were trying
to come to terms with the fact of Jesus being God. He
wants us to know His peace in the midst of the storms of our
lives.
Questions:
1. How did the disciples react to the danger they
were in?
They woke Jesus and told Him about it.
2. What did Jesus do
when they woke Him?
He calmed the storm.
3. Besides the storm, who did Jesus rebuke?
The disciples,
for their lack of faith.
Memory verse: John
16:33
Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. (NLT)
