Lazarus and the Rich
Man
Scripture Passage: Luke
16:19-25
This is the story of two different people. The first
is a rich man who wore expensive clothes and feasted in luxury
every day. Outside the gate lay a beggar called Lazarus
who waited for the crumbs from the rich man's table. The
beggar was covered with open sores and helpless. Then Lazarus
dies and is taken to Heaven. The rich man dies and is
in hell. The rich man had never been cruel to Lazarus;
he simply had never noticed him lying in pain and hungry. May
we always show compassion and kindness to those less fortunate
than us, just like the way Jesus did.
Questions:
1. Who was Lazarus?
He was a beggar
2. Who went to hell?
The rich man
3. What must we show to everyone?
Like Jesus, we must
show compassion
Memory verse: Colossians.
3:12
Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. (NLT)
