Leaving Your Homes
for Christ's Sake
Scripture Passage: Matthew
19:27-30
A cat likes to stay inside the house and not leave
it. But we Christians sometimes have to leave our homes
for the sake of the gospel. Peter asked Jesus what
reward the disciples would have because they had left everything
to follow Him. Jesus answered that, because they have
left their homes and families to follow Him, they will be
rewarded in Heaven. It
is encouraging for those who are serving God far from home
that they too will be rewarded one day, so we must not give
up.
Questions:
1. What did Jesus promise His disciples?
Jesus promised them
a reward in Heaven.
2. What further promises did Jesus make
to Christians who make sacrifices for Him?
Everyone who has
left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or
children or fields will receive one hundred times as much and
will inherit
eternal life.
3. How are spiritual values different from worldly
values?
Jesus said "But many who are first
will be last and many who are last will be first."
Memory verse: Matthew
19:29
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will have eternal life. (NLT)
