Resting
Scripture: Mark
6:6b-12, 30-32
God made our bodies and minds so He knows that
we need times of rest. Christ's disciples had just
returned from travelling to the villages to preach and heal
people. He knew they were tired and so He led them
to a quiet place to get some rest. God does not expect
us to work so long and hard that our bodies and minds get
overtired and we get sick. We need quiet times to rest so
we can continue to do good work.
Questions:
1. What did the disciples do after they went out
and preached and healed?
They gathered around Jesus and reported
to Him all they had done and taught.
2. What did Jesus tell
them to do?
Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and
get some rest.
3. What can Christians learn from this?
It is important to
tell Jesus what we have been doing, to be alone with Him and
to have enough rest.
Memory verse: Matthew
11:28
Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." (NLT)
