Stirring Stick
Scripture
Passage: 2
Timothy 1:6-7
The King James version of the Bible says "Stir up the
gift that is in you." Whether we stir the pot or
fan the flame, we are helping the porridge get cooked. If
we just let the pot sit there and do nothing, our porridge
may get scorched on the bottom, but be uncooked on the top.
If we do nothing for Jesus after we have received the Holy
Spirit we will soon lose our enthusiasm and no-one around us
will be helped. We need not be afraid, for the Spirit of God
is the power we need to win others to Christ.
Questions:
1. How do we get our porridge cooked evenly?
We fan the flame
and stir the pot.
2. If we do nothing, what will happen to those
around us?
They will not come to know Jesus.
3. Why should we not be afraid
to witness for Jesus?
Because the Holy Spirit in us is full
of power and love and self-
discipline.

verse: 2

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (NLT)
