Water
Scripture Passage: John
13:5-10
It is a good thing
to serve one another. Jesus is the Son of God but He
took a basin of water and washed the feet of His disciples!
He wanted them to serve each other and not to become proud.
In the same way we should serve each other, even in the smallest
jobs and God will give us our reward. We do not need another
washing of our feet, but to confess our sins. Then
we will be completely clean again ready to serve others.
Questions:
1. What did Jesus
do when He got up from His meal with the disciples?
He
took off His outer clothing and wrapped a towel around His
waist. After
that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples'
feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around
Him.
2. Why did Peter not
want Jesus to wash His feet?
Because
washing peoples' feet was a job for servants, not Jesus the
Teacher and Lord.
3. How should Jesus'
followers follow His example?
By
humbly serving each other.
Memory verse: James
4:10
When you bow down before the Lord and admit your dependence on him, he will lift you up and give you honor. (NLT)
