We Are Strangers
Scripture
Passage: 1
Peter 2:11-12
The basic commandment is that the Christian should
abstain from fleshly desires. The Christian should
abstain from all these sins because he is a stranger and
pilgrim. We are like the children of Israel who were
strangers in the land of Egypt before they entered the Promised
Land. However, we must take our full responsibility for living
on earth but our citizenship is in Heaven. One
day we will leave this world and enter the presence of God.
Questions:
1. What should Christians stop doing?
Sinful desires.
2. Why should we not be involved in things like
immorality, impurity, idolatry, sorcery, strife, jealousy,
anger, selfishness, envy, drunkenness and the like?
Because
we are strangers and pilgrims.
3. Where is our citizenship?
In Heaven.
Memory verse: 1
John 3:9
Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them. So they can't keep on sinning, because they have been born of God. (NLT)
